  1. This is exactly what I needed having come back to riding at 65 after a 12 year break. I’ll be doing those exercises every day now. Thank you.

  2. Yes keeping active is absolutely needed to continue riding! Looking forward to watching videos on exercises especially stretching which I need to do.

    1. Fantastic. The next video we release will be about confidence and will have all the details of the Wise Riders Club.

  3. Wow! I greatly appreciated that video! I am not quite 50 yet, but I sit in an office all day and by the time I get off work, I feel more like a slab of concrete than a human. And because of that, I have noticed a loss of confidence when it comes to riding my horse because I know that he knows I don’t have the flexibility in my joints that I need to be an effective rider. He isn’t a young horse, but he can still be very quick to take advantage of me when he decides to do so. It has become very frustrating and discouraging for me. So I am very excited to begin trying those simple exercises throughout the day and see how they impact my riding. Thank you!

    1. I really hope they help you Angie. You can do them several times throughout the day and that might help too.

      1. Loved this Andrea. It sparked up my sad day, and just looking at your happy and energetic face made me happy. Thanks, Linda

  4. Fantastic! I love how this program is evolving! Very helpful.
We should all have a physio (PT) on call.

  5. Thank you as always, if people like the water, swiming is a great body movement exercise for the whole body with out gravity pulling down on the muscles.. good flexiblity

  6. These videos address so many aspects that the older rider experiences. Often I feel like you are speaking directly to my particular issue. Such a wonderful resource to have available.
    Thank You!

  7. I go to fysiotherapy every week and it is hard. but these exercises Ik can even do when I am on holiday and at home. And yes, I feel much more connected with you all. Thank you so much.

  8. Thank you so much for this video. I just started riding again at 77 and over 40 years since I last rode. I realize how important and necessary it is to help our bodies return to riding. Looking forward to joining the Wise Riders Club

  9. The hip exercise looks good, but is it suitable for hips with osteoarthritis.
Also the shoulder exercise for an old rotator cup injury

  10. I love your videos. This will help me as a go forward to ride a new horse. I am 72 and the only thing I have right now is my 14h pony to ride. I have fear issues, not with the pony, but those issues will come up when I go to ride my new one. I have had her since Feb and she is finally settling in to her new home. So we will see. I do tell myself I don’t have to ride her, but I want to.

    1. This is all totally understandable. The first video about the 1% rule might help you with the confidence part.

  11. These exercises have found me at the best time as I pinched a nerve in my lower back a few days ago.
I am a equine hoof trimmer & equine bodyworker so my body is often put in awkward positions. I look forward to trying these exercises as they look simple to follow & not too time consuming.
Thank you for making this video ❤️🐴

    1. Oh no, you poor thing. Take it steady when you try these exercises and be sure to stop and seek advice if they cause any twinges.

  12. At 81, I still ride and work with horses. These exercises are simple to do, and well worth the time to do them on a daily basis. My granddaughter always says, “Motion is lotion.” Thank you, Andrea for this video.

  13. Thank you both-I am so happy to see you addressing this issue!! As a (now retired) 30+ year licensed physical therapist in the US, I find feet and ankles are frequently disregarded as we age, to our great disadvantage. I also religiously include ankle circles, ankle pumps, heel raises and calf stretches to my daily movement diet.

  14. Love these exercises. i do yoga 3 days a week and will add these daily activities. Thank you

  15. Simple and yet highly effective. Many thanks to you and Fiona for bringing highly accessible (need nothing) and easy exercises. Cheers

    1. Hi Kathleen, sorry you are having trouble viewing these! First, I would recommend trying on another device or checking your internet connection. You can also reach out to us at support@horseclass.com and we can try to help further to find the issue!

  16. Thank you Andrea
This is exactly what I need. Starting riding lessons at 67 years young! Rode as a child but never had a formal lesson until 2 months ago. Absolutely love being back on a horse but need to get fitter and definitely more supple.

  17. Thankyou Andrea these videos are super helpful and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found this community. I love how inter connected we all are with each other and finding compassion for myself that is allowing me to be kinder to myself and implementing your approach instead of just pushing through like I did when I was younger. This is revolutionary!! Xx

  18. My horse passed away but my love of horses did not. I miss her greatly and hope to ride again. My friends think I am crazy, old but not crazy! Thanks for the exercises and the 1% rule. I will exercise and spend time with friends horses.

    1. I am so sorry for your loss. You are right, not crazy. Old maybe, but we love old. Glad you are here.

  19. I just found this, and would very much like to see it. I am in my late sixties and trying to rehab myself so I can ride again. Am I able to watch the ones that are already done?

  20. Is there a way I can put this on my phone so I can cast it to my TV? I would like to include my husband in these exercises and my computer room is a bit small. I think these exercises are really great/

    1. Gosh maybe. I think you would have to open the welcome email on your phone and maybe access the videos from there.

  21. Thank you so much for this. Love that this community caters to me as I get older and feel that maybe my riding days are over. I am only 65 but have a couple of old injuries (yip horse related) and these exercises are going to be great for me!

    1. Well lets not count you out yet. There is still time to hopefully heal and gentle ease yourself back. Check with your health care professional and come at it gently.

  22. Great exercises. I will definitely incorporate them into my exercise program. Thanks so much.

  23. I am a older rider I have not been on a horse in 10 years. now I have the chance to ride again it was interesting to think about breaking down getting on that horse I started with catching then grooming then I got on n just hacked out for about 20 mins at a walk then hacked for a bit longer and it felt good I felt comfortable the horse was relaxed and so was I. I will go a little bit longer next time and build up from that.

    1. That is great, well done for breaking it down and working towards buildling it up. Great job.

  24. Wonderful! I am 68 years old and have owned and ridden four horses, all experience and previously ridden. When I put my last horse down at the age of about 60, I told myself “Time to quit! Midlife crisis is over!”
But when my daughter showed me the website Thoroughbred Sport Horse Cares, I wound up buying a horse, straight off the track.
She has become my joy AND my NEW learning curve. Your lessons are showing me that I am indeed doing some things right, but has also added new things to think about as this new relationship develops.
    Thank You!!!!!

    1. What a fantastic message. Thank you for sharing, i am so happy these videos have helped in some way in your journey together. I hope you can join us in the WISE Riders club.

  25. Thank you for sharing this. I’ve had a year riddled with injuries and now illness. Although it often feels as though I can’t do much, these exercises are some I can do even if not perfectly, working my way up.

  26. Hi Andrea, looking at the program outline, I can’t seem to find anything that is addressing our body in terms of movement, exercises, etc. is there something more than the teaser you shared?

  27. I walk and swim several times a week, but still have issues with stiffening joints.
I have had numerous falls with injuries to ribs and pelvis. I am not ready to quit riding and am working on improving my confidence. I think I’m worried that I have lost my good balance and riding “seat”.
I love the concept of these exercises and am looking forward to incorporating them into my exercise options to improve flexibility and balance. Hopefully, that gives me more confidence.
    Thank You!!

  28. I might’ve missed it but what amount of reps/number of minutes does she recommend trying to work up to? I’m sure it’s probably different for everyone, but I wasn’t sure if it was two minutes, five minutes, 10 minutes? Thank you! I am looking forward to trying this.
