Have you ever been told to “wrap your leg around the horse?” 

As though staying on requires literally getting your leg around the horse, and hanging on. 

This is another piece of riding advice that can actually make us more tense and unstable. 

Here’s why… if we wrap our leg, we tighten our hips and rotate our ankles, and those are two parts of our body we want fluid, unrestricted movement! 

So what to do instead? 

Depends on you and your horse’s body types!

    On the trail I was always relaxed with that light leg. Ironically in the ring I always felt watched.
    On the way home, my horse went by the song it’s 5 o’clock somewhere 😂
