“Get back on the horse” makes the person watching feel better.
When people give advice, however well intentioned, it’s often for them, not for the person they are directing it at.
If you’ve ever had a fall and with shaky legs inched your way back to the horse that someone was kindly holding waiting for you to haul yourself back in the saddle, you know the feeling of this expectation.
Not to say there isn’t merit in a “never give up”, “try, try again” perseverance kind of mindset.
But when it comes to horses, getting back on is not always the best choice.
In this short video, you’ll meet Lisa Pulliam and Shay. You will hear about Shay’s accident, her wisdom in knowing she needed to go way back to the very basics to rebuild her confidence, and Lisa’s insight of why people really say “get back on the horse”.
