Have you ever felt a dull ache or a stinging pain in your knees or ankles while riding?
Maybe the pain comes after you stop… an unpleasant “price to pay” for doing what you love.
It’s a common problem for riders, but it doesn’t have to be!
There are different reasons you may be feeling pain in these joints.
The most common? Too much pressure against the stirrup and/or poor joint alignment. In this case, the pain is your body saying “you are doing something that is or could cause damage”.
When you find a better position for your legs and let go of the tension, not only can this bring relief from the pain, but it will also make you more stable and balanced.
There are other reasons pain can occur – injuries, overuse (think long rides if your body is not accustomed), and most interesting, pain signals that have nothing to do with actual tissue damage. I will talk more about this in upcoming videos.

thank you. I have been dealing with a knne injury and while riding I have reduced the pain by following your plan of relaxation. you have explained why it works. also I have lowered my leathers a few holes and it really made a difference in relaxation of my knee. I will have to give up jumping.
I love the way Calli explains things. she’s definitely not your ordinary trainer/instructor. she really understands normal people.
Thank you Fiona,
