We all want a great seat.
The ability to follow the horse’s movement. To stay balanced. To give subtle cues.
Perhaps the most important – to stay on! When a rider has a good seat the horse can trip, spook, lose rhythm, and the rider won’t feel that unsettling loss of balance.
I have a few videos on the seat that I want to share with you, covering the basics that you may have heard before (position of your pelvis, where to sit in the saddle), but also going into the not so talked about… such as how your jaw can actually change your seat. (That one is coming up in the next video.)
For today, get started with the first in this series, “3 Keys to a Great Seat.” It breaks down the basics of a strong seat with easy tips you can use right away.

As always, thank you for your simple and very affective video.😊🐴
Ditto – Thank you Refreshing videos that really make a difference Simple and most effective and inspirational ✨️
It is often the most simple changes that make the biggest difference!
Thanks for the video as well as all the other trainings. Your approach has helped me become more confident in the saddle even at my current age of 64. It’s the little things that help the most. I learned a trick to help keep your heels down more easily that I’d like to share. By keeping your toes up while in the stirrups. Your heel automatically goes down. Give it a try.
Hi Kathleen, thank you for sharing what works for you – I think very differently about heels down. Whether we are focusing on heels down or toes up, it can put too much tension in the body. I give a lot more detail in this video: https://www.horseclass.com/blog/is-heels-down-good-advice-for-riders/
Thank you, Callie! This was an excellent video, simple, clear, and something that I will be using every time I sit in my saddle. You’re really a great teacher.
Thank you! I am so glad this was helpful!
